Fall / Winter 2007
Plenty of stuff going on folks, read on!
8.25.06: TS Accidentally Wins!
Seriously? Yeah. At Horning's Hideout annual String Summit outside of Portland, Orygun, the Tunestranglers landed themselves a spot in the Battle of ye Bands. The mighty Captain Gravel, Blackstrap, and good friends Flat Mountain girls provided serious competition. After the short band battle, the Stranglers figured the Flats or the Captain had taken the title. However, after a skuffle in the judge's corner, the stranglers and the flats wound up in a draw, earning both bands featured spots in next year's Summit. After citing their mutual admiration, the Flats and the Stranglers also decided to embark on a celebratory victory tour beginning in November. See calendar for dates.
9.06.06: Manhattan Gigs, TS Records New CD
You heard it right, Tunestranglers recently traveled all way out to NYC fer some hootin in ‘Hatten. Of course, the real reason for the trip was to begin work on their new CD at Engine Studios, in Brooklyn (baby). By all accounts Brooklyn was a blast. The folks at Engine (Steven, Nan, and super-Nathanial) were about as great as can be. The trip included two whole gigs at the Rodeo Bar, downtown Manhattan. "Skillful" Skip Krevens sat in on take-off guitar in Red Brown's abstentia. Wednesday saw the Stranglers openin' up for Bill Carney's Jug Addicts on Wednesday and playin' they's own show on Thursday. Imagine that... 'way up the New York City.
2.02.07 The Legacy Continues, only different
The Tunestranglers will be changing their weekly gig at the Broho to a regular monthly show on the last Monday of every month. They will also feature special guests, as Red moves on to pursue his solo projects. We all wish him the best! Thanks for Stranglin'! |
